This January we have taken some time here at the Food & Farming Discovery Trust to reflect on the past year – and what an exciting year it has been for FFDT! We are proud to have released our Year in Review Doument which showcases just some of the highlights of 2022.
A new website…
2022 saw the launch of the new FFDT Digital Hub, an online platform full of information and exciting resources to help young people learn more about food, farming and the countryside. The Digital Hub contains exciting interactive elements for users to explore, including What’s In The Field, interactive maps that enable visitors to explore the Norfolk countryside by region or by season, our Careers Section that allows visitors to find out more about the career opportunities and training schemes available locally and our ever popular Conscious Consumers Resources that span topical issues around food, agriculture and the environment. This is just the beginning for the Digital Hub and we hope that this platform will continue to grow and develop alongside the FFDT!
A new initiative…
We also launched our new Student Ambassador scheme in 2022. This new initiative for Sixth Form Students aims to promote leadership, communication and teamworking skills, by giving students the responsibility of being an integral part of the Discovery Zone at the Royal Norfolk Show. We had 46 Sixth Form Students from five schools and colleges take part in 2022, and they all did a fantastic job engaging with the general public, special guests and school groups. Click here to hear from one ambassador about their experience at the Show!

A favourite returned..
Finally 2022 saw the return of our popular project Learn about Livestock. Learn about Livestock gives pupils the chance to experience farming first hand and by enabling schools to care for a ewe and her lamb(s) for a full school week. The project, sponsored by Clan Trust, is aimed at giving children, ranging from Early Years to Sixth Form, the chance to learn about animal husbandry and to engage schools in food and farming education. This exciting project offers a rewarding and memorable learning experience for pupils. You can read more about Learn about Livestock 2022 here.
