Royal Norfolk Show 2023
Want to get your school involved in the Royal Norfolk Show? Why not take part in our School Gardens Competition and get your class growing!
This is an exciting opportunity for school groups to get involved in the Royal Norfolk Show. This opportunity is open to all schools and colleges and is free to enter! At past shows our School Gardens have been a favourite of visitors to the Show, and the designs, creativity and imagination get better each year. This year we have some exciting new changes to the competition with two options available to Schools wishing to exhibit in the Garden Village:
• Wheelbarrow Display – You will be provided with a standard wheelbarrow which already contains soil ready for you to create your exhibit in.
• School Garden – A 3m x 3m plot that will be prepared prior to your arrival with kickboards and filled with topsoil.

Each garden is judged on it’s own merit and schools may wish to incorporate either the Discovery Zone theme, ‘Norfolk Fruit and Veg’ or the overall Show theme ‘Looking to the Future’ in their designs. To find out more information and to learn how you can take part, head over to the Royal Norfolk Show website.
We had some wonderful entries in 2022 from Primary and Secondary Schools. The Jubilee was the main focus for our School Gardens and the schools came up with some exciting designs to reflect that. Peterhouse Primary School included a brilliant selection of fruits and vegetables including strawberries that had been grown by the students and a Union Jack made from lavendar, strawberries and Lily of the Valley.
Northgate High School in Dereham also took part in 2022. Their imaginative garden even included a solar powered windmill, with recycled plastic sails to represent Dereham’s famous windmill. You can read more about Northgate’s experience here!
