Event Description

The Food & Farming Discovery Trust is inviting 13 to 15-year-olds from non-agricultural backgrounds to an unforgettable day of hands-on learning and exploration at Easton College. Exploring Food & Farming is a full-day adventure designed to open young eyes to the journey of food from field to fork, and to show that farming is as fascinating as it is essential.

What’s the aim of the day?

This event is all about:
• Equipping children with a better understanding of how their food is produced locally
• Teaching basic farm skills through practical, real-world activities
• Engaging children with farming in a fun, memorable and interactive way

It’s not about textbooks — it’s about tractors, animals, and soil!

What’s in store?
This immersive event is packed with fun and educational activities designed to spark curiosity and build confidence through practical experience. Students will get the chance to:
• Drive a tractor
• Identify and explore soil health
• Handle and care for livestock
• Take part in a guided farm tour
• Visit an ice cream parlour
• Make and take away your own produce

Whether they’re fascinated by animals, machines, or food, there’s something here for every young learner to discover.

Why attend?
• Learn by doing: This isn’t a classroom – it’s the real world of farming.
• Discover new interests: From animal care to sustainable food production, this event offers a window into careers and passions students may not have considered.
• Have fun while learning: With a day full of hands-on activities and expert guidance, it’s the perfect mix of education and excitement.

This event is completely free of charge.

Participants will be required to wear safety boots and overalls throughout the day for Health and Safety purposes. We have a limited number of overalls and safety boots available for participants to borrow on the day, however if the attendee requires either item, this must be indicated at the time of booking, including the required sizes. If these items are not requested on this registration form, we will be unable to supply these items on the day, and the attendee will be responsible for bringing their own safety boots and overalls in order to participate.
